The future for RSCM Voices (Midlands and South-West)

RSCM reviews all its educational activities on a regular basis and it has been decided that the RSCM Voices (Midlands and South West) will cease to operate in its current format after the end of the 2011-12 season. This coincides with Director Matthew Hamilton’s decision to step down and pursue other musical opportunities and also takes into account operational difficulties including recruiting members from such a wide geographic area and sustaining a financially viable programme without additional grant funding.

We hope this will be just a break in operations or the prelude to something new and more fitting to the church music demographics of the region. Whilst future developments are being considered there are other opportunities that singers may wish to pursue. For those who are able to access venues within the RSCM Voices (South) region can apply to join the group from the beginning of the next session - see more information here.

Also, an Area choir based in the Wessex Area is being established. The remit for area choirs is rather different from Voices, but if you are interested please contact Nigel Groome, Regional Music Adviser for the South West at ngroome(at)rscm.com to find out more.
