Information and resources
Sunday by Sunday
The RSCM produces the best and most comprehensive liturgy planner currently available, Sunday by Sunday. It is published every quarter, three months ahead of the season, allowing ample time for planning. It is currently based on the Common Worship lectionary (based on the Revised Common Lectionary used by most of the churches). Although Anglican in emphasis, it is relevant to all denominations that make use of that lectionary (including the Roman Catholic Church). There are suggestions for hymns, psalms, songs, anthems, and organ music, as well as comments on the themes of the readings. It has proved invaluable to clergy, musicians, and worship planning committees.
Church Music Quarterly and RSCM Newsletter
The RSCM magazine, Church
Music Quarterly, is published in March, June, September and December
each year. The magazine includes a wide range of general feature articles
related to music and the church, practical and applied articles for players,
directors and singers, and reviews of church and organ music. It incorporates
the RSCM Newsletter, which offers news and briefings about the RSCM's
own activities.
Editorial copy deadlines are: 1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October.

The Organ and its Care
A downloadable information sheet is available, intended for those who do not know much about organs. It is written in non-technical language that, we hope, will make it possible for clergy, church council members, and church members to weigh up the issues.
A pipe organ may be the most expensive single artefact in the church,
after the building itself. Most clergy, parish church councils and organists
will be faced with the question of "What needs to be done to the
organ?" on an annual basis (for care, routine maintenance and tuning),
and every 15 or 20 years when more substantial work may be necessary.
The information sheet is made up of the following sections:
- Brief outline of the way a pipe organ works, addressing its main components
- Large projects involving major work and expenditure on the organ
- Normal care and maintenance
- More information
Courses Music Library
There is a large collection of music (including hymn books, psalters, anthologies and sheet choral music) in the RSCM Courses Music Library. This is available for loan for use at RSCM courses and events organized nationally or through the RSCM Voluntary Networks. Exceptionally, music that is out of print or in some way unavailable may be hired to individual churches, choirs or organizations.

Colles Reference Library
The library has a large collection of books about church music, plainsong, liturgy, hymnody and psalmody together with a very large collection of church music, much of which is out-of-print. There is a large corpus of organ music and an archive of all publications and journals of the RSCM.
The RSCM library is for reference only and is open by appointment with the librarian. Use of the library is free to RSCM affiliates, individual members and friends. Others are requested to make an appropriate donation.
Please note that the RSCM Library and Archives will be unavailable for several years, until new premises become available at Sarum College. In the meantime our Honorary Librarian, Dr John Henderson, will continue to assist with queries.
