The RSCM Carol Book Supplement and The RSCM Carol Book
In this podcast, John Barnard, Co-Editor of The RSCM Carol Book Supplement, talks to Stuart Robinson about this follow-up to The RSCM Carol Book, a major photocopiable resource first published by the RSCM in 2005. The Revd Peter Moger also discusses the outline of a new Christmas Carol service, contained in the supplement.
John Barnard has worked in many large churches as a director of music. He is a well-known composer and arranger of hymn tunes, including the tune Guiting Power. He has co-edited The Carol Book and The Carol Book Supplement with David Iliff, Director of Music at Malvern Priory. They have worked together on a number of church music projects since the early eighties.
Like its predecessor, The RSCM Carol Book Supplement is a photocopiable resource, containing 16 carols from Britain and Europe. In this podcast, you can hear extracts of some of the carols sung by Sarum Voices, and John Barnard explains how many pieces can be adapted according to a choir's particular resources.
