RSCM Millennium Youth Choir to perform in Salisbury
The Royal School of Church Music's Millennium Youth Choir is to visit Salisbury for its Easter Course in April.
The choir, conducted by David Ogden and accompanied by organist Daniel Moult, will be in Salisbury, the home of the RSCM Administrative Office, from Tuesday 8th to Saturday 12th April. They will be singing Choral Evensong at 5.30pm in Salisbury Cathedral each day, and will also be filming items for future editions of BBC Songs of Praise.
All are very welcome to come to the Cathedral on Wednesday 9th April at 1.05pm to hear a free lunchtime concert given by the Millennium Youth Choir. It will feature music that the choir is currently preparing, and items from their recent CD Out of the Stillness.
The choir was formed in 1999 at the suggestion of the former Archbishop of Canterbury, George Carey, and is made up of some of the finest young church singers drawn from church and university choirs all over the UK and has appeared many times on BBC radio and television.
Working with the celebrated composer John Rutter, the RSCM Millennium Youth Choir recorded a CD in 2007, and in the summer they will travel to Belgium and Holland to record a broadcast of Choral Evensong for BBC Radio 3 and take part in concerts and services.
(Please note that the concert planned for Friday 11th April at St Martin's Church unfortunately cannot now go ahead.)
More information about the choir is available on their website - www.rscm.com/myc.
A photograph of the choir is available at the RSCM Picture Gallery.
Ends.
