Moore - It is a thing most wonderful

RSCM publication from Philip Moore on BBC Radio 3 this week

Philip Moore’s setting of Bishop Walsham How’s hymn It is a thing most wonderful is the anthem in a broadcast of Choral Evensong on BBC Radio 3 this week from Wakefield Cathedral.  Philip Moore was Organist and Master of the Choristers at York Minster for over twenty-five years.

This particular setting was composed in 1987 for Jonathan Bielby and the choir of Wakefield Cathedral, and is scored for SATB with solos for two sopranos. It has an unusual lyrical style, with a powerful middle section - a really moving setting for Passiontide.

The service is broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on Wednesday 3rd March and repeated on Sunday 7th March (both at 4.00pm), and will be available online on the BBC website until Sunday 14th March.

It is a thing most wonderful is published by the RSCM and available from RSCM Music Direct for £1.99, or £1.49 to RSCM Affiliates. It is also included in The Silver Collection and the Passiontide sequence The Way of the Cross.
