RSCM broadcast on Irish Television

Members of the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) in the Irish Republic will be leading a televised service of Sunday Worship on RTÉ Television (the Irish broadcasting organisation) this coming Sunday 23rd September about 11.10am.

The service, broadcast live from the RTÉ studios in Dublin will be an ecumenical Service of the Word. The theme of the service reflects the central role that music can play in worship. This broadcast will reach an estimated 80,000 viewers throughout Ireland. Singers from a number of churches representing different denominations in and around Dublin have been rehearsing hard during the past couple of weeks.

"This promises to be a wonderful opportunity for us all to showcase the vibrant music that takes place in our churches" says Peter Parshall, Co-ordinator for the RSCM in Ireland. "We're using some of the excellent material published by the RSCM in Sunday by Sunday Collection 2**, as well as well-known hymns". Peter is the Music Leader for the broadcast and John Mountford, the recently appointed Organ Scholar of Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin will be the accompanist. The service will be led by The Venerable Edgar Swann, Archdeacon of Glendalough and a member of the RSCM Ireland Executive Committee.
