Royal School of Church Music to be featured on Songs of Praise.

An edition of BBC TV’s popular Songs of Praise programme will celebrate the work of the Royal School of Church Music, which this year celebrates the 80th anniversary of its foundation. The special programme of music and interviews will be broadcast on BBC One on Advent Sunday 2nd December.

The recording of hymns and other music for the programme will take place in Hexham Abbey, Northumberland on Thursday 1st November. A massed choir of over 300 singers drawn from RSCM affiliated individuals and churches all over the north of England has now been assembled for the recording session which will be conducted by the concert organist Gordon Stewart, a former director of the RSCM Millennium Youth Choir. Further details will be published nearer the time.

The event is now fully subscribed, and the BBC regrets no more applications to take part can be received.

Ends.
