121217 All Saints’ Woodford Wells is a large charismatic evangelical church in North East London. As an integral part of the vision and values of this church, it retains a long tradition of formal choral worship, including a monthly Choral Matins. We are seeking an Organist/Choir Director to lead our committed RSCM affiliated robed choir, currently numbering up to 20, through a weekly evening practice and one sung service every Sunday at 9.30am, plus special services for Christmas and Holy Week. In addition to this, with other singers, the choir usually undertakes a large popular oratorio performance every year. The successful applicant would be required to play the organ at all traditional services, oversee the general administration and artistic direction of the church choir, with the option to promote other classical music events and activities within the church community, such as recitals and possibly teaching. The position is available immediately with the offer of a one year renewable, part time contract. 041217 Organist/Choirmaster. A vacancy has arisen for an experienced organist to work at St. Giles the Abbot, Farnborough, Kent. St. Giles has a flourishing adult choir (20 members) and junior choir (16 members) is affiliated to the RSCM and has an organ scholar. St. Giles offers weekly Matins and sung Evensong (BCP) and a full range of traditional and modern church music and liturgy. We are looking for someone who can: • share services playing at Matins, Evensong and, when necessary, the 10.00am CW service • rehearse and direct the adult choir. Rehearsals are on a Friday night and before Evensong • work collaboratively with a colleague • play at weddings and funerals (shared between both organists) – approx. 12 weddings and 20 funerals • nurture and encourage new singers • prepare music for Advent, Christmas and Easter and other special occasions.
