130117 St. James’s Bushey (Hertfordshire). Director of Music and Organist. Our current organist, Stuart Brant, has retired after 17 years of faithful service to St James’s. Applications therefore are invited for this post in this significant parish church with a thriving musical tradition and a significantly growing congregation. The successful applicant will play the organ at services (Sunday 9.30 Parish Eucharist as well as two monthly Evening Services, including the full seasonal liturgical services, occasional offices) and direct the choir. He or she will oversee the robed choir and our small instrumental ensemble which plays once a month. The choir is a very able one which regularly sings weekend services at major Cathedrals. St. James’s Bushey also hosts a large number of Saturday lunchtime chamber recitals between March and October and many of the performers are local professional or semi-professional musicians, as well as musicians from the London Music Colleges. The Church possesses a fine two-manual tracker organ and a Yamaha grand piano. The church also possesses a very large and comprehensive music library. The Rector (Fr. Neil Kelley) is a former Scholar of the Royal College of Music (and a former Organ Scholar of St. Albans Abbey and St. George’s Windsor Castle.) There is a very supportive (FRCO) assistant-organist.
