St Francis Church, Keynsham

is seeking a music leader with keyboard skills (piano, and ideally organ) to take overall responsibility for music during worship, including leading and developing the choir. This entails playing on Sundays (one service) and occasionally midweek, e.g., Ash Wednesday, and practising with the choir on a weekly basis.

St Francis Church has an enthusiastic choir of 7 adults, many of whom also play instruments, plus a small worship band. The church has an organ scholar who plays two Sundays a month; other deputies are also available.

Our music in worship is highly valued by the church, and ranges over a variety of styles. We are seeking a person who shares our enthusiasm and who is able to combine both traditional hymns and modern songs in worship.  We also see music as a means of development and outreach for our church, and would support the creation of a children’s or community choir, and the expansion of the worship band.

The church has a small two-manual tracker-action organ with pedals, and an upright piano.  It would be helpful, although not essential, for the music leader to be able to play the organ.

Remuneration is £200.00 per month.

Job and person descriptions, and an application form, can be found on the parish website or contact Sally Burton, email, tel. 0117 9839193.
