This year our annual celebration combines with the St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Diocesan Choirs’ Festival. RSCM honorary awards will be presented and it is an occasion to celebrate the work of our members and volunteers in the region. This is a short, intensive course for church organists at approximately Grade 5–7 (organ) level, taught in very small groups and with access to excellent organs for registration and console-management studies. Topics include accompaniment, improvisation, routine skills and techniques. Choir-training and conducting are not included.

Singing cathedral services for a week in the summer under the direction of Scott Farrell (Director of Music at Rochester Cathedral), this choir of 40 voices is open to anyone over 18 years of age, and entry is subject to audition for vacancies as they occur. Vocal coaching is included.

The choir will be 'in residence' with students from around the world at the International Summer School, in workshops, services and training opportunities and a possible radio broadcast. The MYC arrives three days ahead of the rest to prepare the repertoire, with intensive training and vocal coaching. Adrian Lucas will be directing the MYC again in 2016. Entry is by audition.

The International Summer School takes place in the vibrant city of Liverpool, with learning and worship centred on the Anglican and Metropolitan Cathedrals. Two pathways of elective study sessions will be complemented by a wide variety of seminars, workshops and training, with worship in both cathedrals drawing on a variety of traditions. Parallel courses for boy and girl trebles, with a young ATB section supported by professional singers. The experience of singing a whole week of services with cathedral repertoire in an inspirational setting is one to treasure and build upon; singers are also given vocal coaching and a range of other musical opportunities. Trebles should be of approximately Silver Award standard, and ATBs at or near Gold Award standard. Entry is by audition.

Age restriction: boy trebles - from age 10; girls - age 10-17; altos, contraltos, tenors and basses - under 18.

This popular and long-running course will be directed by Tansy Castledine, Director of Music at St George’s College in Surrey, where she has led the choir to victories in the BBC Songs of Praise Senior School Choir of the Year competition and the Barnardo’s National Choir Competition.

An experienced team of tutors will provide wide-ranging choral training, including care and development of the voice. This course will help those preparing for RSCM Awards, and older singers will have opportunities to develop their musical leadership skills. Daily services will be sung in the school chapel, covering a broad repertoire, and at the weekend the choir will sing in Bath Abbey.

Kingswood School stands above the beautiful city of Bath, and has excellent facilities. Accommodation is in small dormitories, and a team of pastoral staff care for the children and young people.

Applications are invited for two Organ Scholarships (paying a reduced fee of £165 for the course), allowing young players to study with the Course Organist and gain experience accompanying singers. (Closing date for scholarship applications is 25 April 2016.)
