RSCM around the UK and Ireland
Although we are an international organisation, the majority of our membership is located in the UK and Ireland. These members are looked after by voluntary committees. The extent of a committee's responsibility varies depending on location.
We have included the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands in this section of the site even though we recognise that they are not in fact part of the United Kingdom. We intend no disrespect by doing this. It simply reflects the fact that, historically, the membership of these islands has been looked after in the same way as the membership in the UK and Ireland.
Areas and Districts
Areas are the principal units for the RSCM’s voluntary work in England, Wales, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man. Each Area is administered by a committee, which is accountable to the RSCM Council. For historical reasons the boundaries of Areas coincide with Anglican dioceses in England and Wales. Some larger Areas in England are subdivided into Districts, which are accountable to the Area committee. Guidelines and procedures for Areas and Districts appear in the Area Committee Handbook.

Regional and national groupings
Scotland and Ireland are each treated as single Areas by the RSCM, currently with representatives and informal groups planning events and activities with the support and guidance of a co-ordinator.
The work of the RSCM Area committees in Wales is supported and guided on a national basis by a co-ordinator.
In England the larger number of Area committees are now grouped into four regions: North, Midlands and East Anglia, South and South East, and South West. Each group has a team of regional co-ordinators.
