Residentiary Choir for Adults

Singing cathedral services for a week in the summer under the direction of Silas Wollston, this choir of about 40 voices is open to anyone over 18 years of age, and entry is subject to audition for vacancies as they occur. Vocal coaching is included.

2017 vacancies

We are looking for up to 4 sopranos, 3 tenors and 2 basses to join the choir for their visit to Carlisle, and add their names to a reserve list for future visits. Please email education@rscm.com to arrange an audition.

It may be possible, depending on numbers, to arrange auditions at events occurring in the following places during January and February. Please indicate, when you email, which of these you would be available for.

1. Vocal exercises

2. Performance of an appropriate, pre-prepared piece of the candidate’s choice from Sections A (Tests 2 or 3) or B (Test 2) of the RSCM Gold Award syllabus (please bring two copies to the audition) 

3. Sight reading

4. Reading a passage of text at sight

5. Follow-up questions to assess underlying knowledge of musical terms and music theory
