Sadly, RSCM Press is unable to read unsolicited composition submissions. However, we do offer a composition review service for amateur composers of church music.

Our Composition Review Service provides amateur composers with expert and instructive feedback to develop and improve their compositional skills. For a single fee, you can receive a detailed commentary on your composition from our team of experienced composers and church musicians usually within one-to-two months.

What can I submit for review?

A piece or group of pieces totalling no more than 5 minutes of music (excluding repeats). Fees for larger submissions can be quoted on request.

How do I submit my work and how will it be returned?

You can find the application form here. Applications will ideally be submitted by email to press@rscm.com

If you have no access to email facilities, please send a completed application form and a legible copy of your music, printed or electronic (PDF file format only), to: RSCM Press, 19 The Close, Salisbury, SP1 2EB, UK.

For UK entries, please include a self-addressed envelope with stamps to the correct value for the weight of the returned submission.

What will I receive?

You will receive a marked-up copy of your score(s), with detailed analysis and general comments on all aspects of your music: word-setting, melody, harmony, accompaniment, structure, liturgical usage, and presentation. Feedback will be affirming and constructively critical.

What does it cost and how do I pay?

RSCM Group members pay £66 per submission and individual Members pay £76.56 per submission. Non-members pay £88 per submission. You may request an invoice (in £ sterling) to be sent to you with your returned manuscript, or you may pay by credit card via the RSCM webshop (log in to get the reduced price for members). Composers paying for the review service via the RSCM webshop should include their order number on their application form.

How long will it take?

For UK entries, we aim to send back the reviewed submissions within 60 days; overseas entries will take slightly longer to allow for postage time.

Will I know who reviews my work?

No. The Composition Review Service is entirely anonymous. Composers should omit their names from their score(s). No information on the identity of either reviewer or composer will be disclosed, and all correspondence will be through the administrator.
