St John’s is a magnificent parish church situated in the heart of Dronfield, just South of Sheffield, with the building dating back to 12th Century. The organ is a two manual pipe instrument that was last rebuilt in 1991.
We seek to appoint a competent, enthusiastic and collaborative musician to join our ministry team. We wish to develop our established choral tradition and also to explore new music and styles of worship. We have an established robed SATB choir of 20 adults and children that leads the weekly 9:30am service plus some 6:30pm choral evening services and there is a small group of people that are support more informal worship at our bi-monthly 11:15am service.
It will be a priority for the appointed person to recruit some new adult members into the choir and also to recruit and train children, perhaps by establishing a junior choir. Choir practice is currently on Thursday evenings.
For the full scope of the role the salary would be up to £7,000. There are approximately 15 weddings and 10 funerals each year which generate additional income of ~£2,500. Enquiries are also welcome from musicians that are interested in parts of the job (e.g. organist + pianist only, choir master only etc).

St Mary’s is a magnificent parish church situated in the heart of the village with the building dating back to 13th Century and the beautiful Chancel now celebrating its 600 anniversary.
We are seeking to appoint a friendly, enthusiastic musician to play the organ/piano for a weekly Sunday 10.30am service at our thriving village church and to train and lead a small adult robed choir of 12 to 15 singers. Currently the choir sings for one Sunday service per month, and we have one practice in the preceding week. We use two modern settings of the communion service, and sing a short communion motet, frequently using the OUP Flexible Anthem Book. We also sing for an Advent and a Christmas Carol Service. Our hope is that the new choir director will expand and develop the choir and will also recruit children back into the choir from Christopher Rawlins C of E primary school. On the first Sunday of the month we have a Family Service accompanied by a minstrel group of electric piano, violins, cello, guitar and flutes. In addition, there are usually about 6 to10 weddings and funerals per year.
Our organ is a very fine two manual tracker action Walker organ, which has been regularly maintained.
