NEW 2018 ‘ Church Musician Fees Guidance’ for members is available to download
The NEW 2018 ‘Church Musician Fees Guidance’ document is now available for members to download on our Webshop, RSCM Music Direct, rscmshop.com.
Please see below for information on some important changes that have been made to the document that should be noted as we have changed the way in which the recommended fees document has been constructed.
Previously, a general range of annual salaries were provided alongside an additional services hourly rate. This was for ‘Musical Directors’ and ‘Organists only’ and was designed for the entire UK to use.
Now, after extensive research, we have found that the actual salaries varied hugely across the UK, making location, regional income levels, skill set etc., key factors in the rates that were/are being paid. Our duty is to provide fair, ethical, and relevant guidance and support. To reflect these findings, we have taken our members’ feedback into account and have provided rates for each component part. The rates have two levels, ‘Professional’ and ‘Vocational’. The criteria for each is listed within the document itself.
Rather than us telling you how much you should be paying, we encourage the parties involved to come to an agreement and form a contract using the Ready Reckoner (page 5); In addition, our fees document provides the individual musician with a charging scale for particular services.
Please take time to read the ‘Basis of guidance’ and the ‘Rationale’ for the underlying reasons for the rates suggested.
