Raising the Roof at Canterbury Cathedral – RSCM Celebration Day
RSCM Celebration Day 2017 was on Saturday 14 October 2017 at Canterbury Cathedral.
The service included presentation of our Honorary Awards for 2017.
Seventy years after the death of our founder, Sir Sydney Nicholson, we also gave thanks for his vision and the dedication of all those who offer music in Christian worship.
With around 200 singers from RSCM affiliated churches across the UK as well as Brussels and Ghent, a congregation in fine voice, Canterbury Cathedral was filled with rich sounds during the annual Celebration Day service.
We were really pleased to welcome so many young choristers to the service. The singers were led by Adrian Lucas, Head of Choral Studies, and accompanied on the organ by Andrew Reid, Director, on his official last day in the role.
Choristers from Saint Leonard’s Parish Church, Loftus-in Cleveland who sang at the event told us it was ‘ a very big deal’ and ‘a really exciting experience’.
Great fun was had by one and all, massive congratulations to all involved, Canterbury Cathedral roof was certainly raised by the beautiful voices of all. A massive success all round!
